Julie R. Colton is a family law attorney, collaborator and mediator. She obtained her Bachelor of Psychology in 2002 from Gannon University and her Juris Doctorate in 2005 from University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the Western District in 2006. Prior to joining Voelker & Colton, LLC, Attorney Colton clerked in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, Family Division for the Honorable Judge Eaton, and worked at various family and civil law firms. Attorney Colton is a litigator, collaborator and trained mediator. Attorney Colton is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pittbsurgh School of Law where she teaches Family Law.
Attorney Colton has served in a variety of leadership positions in the Allegheny County Bar Association including Chair of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD), Chair of the Bar Leadership Initiative, Family Law Section Council Member, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Governors, and Judiciary Committee. Attorney Colton has also participated in the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Matrimonial Inns of Court, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Family Law Section and the American Bar Association. She is an Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Fellow. Attorney Colton has been named a Rising Star by SuperLawyers for more than five consecutive years (2010-2016). Attorney Colton serves on the Board of Directors for Neighborhood Legal Services Association.
Attorney Colton has presented about divorce, custody, support and mediation to a variety of audiences including attorneys and the general public. Attorney Colton has appeared on KDKA Radio for Pittsburgh Works: Dealing with Divorce to discuss divorce and custody. She volunteers with the Allegheny County Family Court Pro Se Motions Programs and the Neighborhood Legal Services Pro Bono PFA Program.
